I don’t know if Halloween and college football go hand in hand, but this Saturday will showcase lots of spooky football games. The big 3:30 game…FLORIDA/GEORGIA GAME in Jacksonville, Florida.
This game has one of the most exciting game day atmospheres anywhere in the country. Equal number of tickets are allotted to each school. The stadium is evenly divided; half Florida fans, half Georgia fans.
The last time the Florida/Georgia game fell on Halloween, we wore skeleton and bat hats to the tailgate and game.
I will be pulling these out of the closet again this year!
Amelia Island will be hopping with lots of Georgia fans.
Loran Smith will be signing copies of his new book, A LETTER TO LARRY AND OTHER MEMORIES OF GEORGIA’S LEGENDARY ANNOUNCER LARRY MUNSON.
Amelia Island: The Plantation Shop at Palmetto Walk on Friday, Oct. 30…11-2.
He will also be signing copies at G J Ford’s on St. Simon’s Island at 4 pm same day.
Come meet Loran and get your signed copy!
Last week I showed a video of Larry Munson’s famed “Run Lindsay” play by play of a Florida/Georgia game.
This week just in time for Loran Smith’s book signing….
This book will make a great Christmas gift for your Georgia football fan!
All schools have special traditions which resonate with their fans.
One of my favorite traditions at UF is Mr. Two Bits. George Edmondson, Jr. led the two bits cheer during the Florida Pre Game Show for 59 years. He always wore a yellow shirt with orange and blue striped tie and blue and white seersucker pants, usually with saddle oxfords. He also was known to wander to different sections throughout the game and get the two bit cheer going. He has retired and is dearly missed. He did make an appearance for old times sake at the Florida/ FSU game in 2011.
Watch this special video to capture his spirit.
Should be a beautiful day for the Florida/Georgia game.
How about your favorite school traditions?
