Traveling through Vermont is like traveling back in time. Sure there are modern conveniences, but the homes, the flower gardens, the corn fields lining the valley floors, the aging stone walls, the barns, the cows, and the Green Mountains with no homes sitting atop the peaks remind one of a simpler era…and it feels like a slice of heaven. Enjoy!
Beautiful homes and gardens.
White clapboard homes with American flags
The Dorset Inn
The Dove Tail Inn
The old water wheel mill
The view of Equinox Mountain from the Equinox Hotel, Manchester, VT
Houses on Lake St. Catherine
And the barns!!!
And every barn needs some cows.
I think I will have lots of inspiration for paintings when I return home.
Watch for upcoming stories from my Vermont and Maine travels.
More gardens, more barns, more mountains, more farmers markets.
I welcome your comments and pictures on your favorite Vermont spot.
Come celebrate with me. I’ll save you a seat at the table.

These pictures are terrific. A couple of the barns I would love to paint. You have great subjects. And the best is the black and white cow.
This must be a working vacation.
Thank you Janet and as you know these pictures are just from Southern Vermnont! Loved the Northeast Kingdom too. I will also be doing a post on one of my favorite artist, Peter Huntoon….
Beautiful pictures, Kathy. Many remind me of eastern Long Island.
Thanks Bob….Know you miss Long Island, but hope your new place in the south is great! We are having a grand time, hiking, kayaking, playing and of course eating well! Vermont cheese and corn has been wonderful! Strawberries from Canada are small and sweet. And in Maine the lobster, fresh haddock, and blueberries are keeping me happy!
Kathy- you did a great job of capturing the beauty of Vermont. Thanks for sharing them with us!
Vermont farmers market coming next and a feature on a Vermont artist, Peter Huntoon….
I’m so glad you and Dave were able to get away. Looks like you’re having a wonderful vacation. Your photography captures the beauty of both Vermont and Maine.
Thanks for your support Joanne! We love Vermont and Maine almost as much as we love the North Carolina mountains! Such beauty in our country!
Nothing lovelier than a rock wall with wildflower garden! Thanks for sharing.
I know Carson! I love the old rock walls that edge the meadows too. I wonder how long they have been there. Thanks always for your comments.
As always, I enjoy your photographs!
Joy I know you appreciate the beauty of our country…The hills of Tennessee are special to me, but I love exploring this great country. Need you here to help me prepare some great recipes!
Kathy,
Your and Dave’s journey looks quite wonderful! And you are finding so much beauty – as you do always. Would you share your itinerary? It looks worth repeating! Enjoy the rest of your time traveling. Jo-ann
i would love to share with you Jo-Ann. We just love traveling our great country. We always look for good hikes, good food, and good people! We have met some of the nicest people on this journey. (And of course I don’t meet a stranger)….everyone wants to know where I am “from”…with my accent. I will have some great recipes coming up!
Kathy ~ once again you charmed me with you beautiful photographs! Makes me want to pack a bag and hit the road to Vermont. You are exactly right when you described how these photos make you feel ~ free, relaxed and peaceful. Looking forward to reading more about your travels.
Thank you always for your comments Darleen. We are now in Maine and enjoying the cooler temps here. Have to go home soon and back to heat. Hope you are at your special place.
