Many flower quotes by William Shakespeare appear throughout his works.
“What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”
spoken by Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet” (2.2.45-7)
“Of all Flowers, me thinks a Rose is best,” spoken by Emilia in “The Two Noble Kinsmen.”
A rose garden conjures up images of beauty, perfection and love.
Carol Ann Atwood shares a love of the rose with Shakespeare. It is not easy growing roses in Florida. Early mornings find Carol Ann tending precious roses before the sun gets too high in the sky and before the temperature rises to uncomfortable levels.
Enjoy Carol Ann’s beautiful blooms.

Carol Ann’s garden includes hydrangeas, ferns, geraniums and a shade garden.
Whimsical turtles play a role in the back garden/terrace.
Thank you Carol Ann and Calvin for sharing your garden with us.
Peonies and dahlias are next!
All the flowers are providing me inspiration for new paintings.

Watch for an upcoming floral series of paintings.
Come celebrate with me. I’ll save you a seat in the garden.

Beautiful roses, for someone who struggles with knockout roses this garden is truly impressive. Thanks for sharing.
Carol Ann has a green thumb for sure!
Carol Ann’s rose garden is simply beautiful and no doubt her passion for her roses has made these gardens unique to anyone else’s. Many days I ride my bike by her house just to get a glimpse of these beautiful roses.
Thanks for your comment Clara! I agree.
Thank you my dear. This is wonderful!! So much fun! Glad you came around back to the courtyard as now the geraniums have bitten the dust . Thanks, Kathy

I also am very impressed with you painting.
I will try to send you a pic of peonies. They are not as good this year but so much fun.

Looking forward to our visit to your Vermont camp!!! Loved your peonies and will post soon.
Beautiful roses…I could almost catch a whiff of their scents. Ahhh. Kathy, I’m looking forward to seeing all of your new floral paintings. You may need to change your name from Miller to Monet. : )
Thank you Leslie! I am enjoying the floral project and hope to continue in that vein….but I have not forgotten my tailgating painting project either!
Just beautiful, Kathy! Planted a new garden this summer in Pennsylvania and included some red climbing roses. Hope they do as well as your friend, Carol Ann’s. Know the upcoming floral paintings will be just wonderful, looking forward to seeing them.
