Every spring, Charleston, South Carolina welcomes visitors to their Historic House and Garden Tours.
I reached into my archives to share these springtime memories from Charleston.
The window boxes are divine.
I love the yellow pots.
And the matching yellow fire hydrant!
Courtyard gardens are intriguing.
A wedding under the oaks.
My favorite house…the Thomas Rose house on Church Street
The Thomas Rose house, built in 1735, is one of the oldest examples of Early Georgian architecture and has the original Georgian paneling inside.
And favorite hosts, Phil and Laura Huffman!
Not all homes are big and grand in Charleston. Many of the smaller homes have their own charm, especially the ones with courtyard gardens.
Watch for an upcoming series on right sizing, my term for better utilization of space. Smaller homes can be magnificent, especially when taking advantage of the outside… courtyard gardens, porches, patios and terraces.

Come celebrate with me. I’ll save you a seat at the table.

Thank you James…I do love Charleston. Several restaurants I would recommend…Halls Chophouse https://hallschophouse.com and Husk http://huskrestaurant.com
Love that pic of the wedding scene in the park. The oak tree limbs are incredible.
It was such a beautiful setting. There’s just something about old oaks.
It’s all in the window boxes!!
