FLOWER FRIDAY
“FRUIT OR ORNAMENTS”
24″x 30″ Original Kathy Miller Painting, Acrylic on Canvas
Just finished… a new 24″ x 30″ flower painting! Just in time for Christmas. This painting will also be my Christmas card…hot off the press…waiting to be mailed…think I better get busy addressing envelopes.
The inspiration for the painting…a photo of a beautifully dressed table ready for Christmas dinner. The fruit surrounding the flowers reminded me of Christmas ornaments. As I worked on this painting the fruit kept morphing into Christmas balls…at least I didn’t add stripes or something to the fruit. But I couldn’t resist stripes…and voila a red and white striped table cloth.
This painting is framed with an antiqued silver leaf picture frame, a canvas floater, which floats the fine art canvas, suspending and separating it from the moulding.
Back to the Christmas card, I always use the same sentiment inside…based on the old photo cards my parents used to send. You know, the ones with a picture of the house or the family (yes in black and white) with the sentiment…From Our House To Yours…
With my tablescape Christmas cards the sentiment is
“Season’s Greeting From Our Table To Yours”
Here is a look at my previous Christmas cards…the first 3 depicting tablescapes from our home.
“MARSH CREEK CHRISTMAS”
“MARSH CREEK CHRISTMAS II”
“CAMP CHIMNEY BUFFET”
inspired by our mountain home and a painting by Pierre Vonnard, “Still Life with Greyhound” which was inspired by a Jean Simeon Chardin painting,”The Buffet” 1728.
Wow…where do artists find their inspiration?
and last year’s Christmas card…
