Family, Friends, Food, Football and Farmers Market.
I changed the order
We had a little bit of all on Labor Day Weekend.
Dave and I traveled to Durham, NC for a lovely wedding. We enjoyed watching two families celebrate the marriage of their children.
We visited the Durham Farmers Market. As in previous posts, I love a good Farmers Market and support the people and products that make these regional fairs a success.
OKRA, my summer favorite.
Peppers
And more peppers
Baby eggplant and peppers
Radishes
Cheese straws from the market.
I love a good cheese straw and Lillian Carson makes the absolute best.
Lillian makes her cheese straws the old fashioned way; by hand using her great grandmother’s recipe and her mama’s old press.
What makes her cheese straws “Wonderful”? The key is in their thinness made possible by using her mama’s old disc in the press.
Stop by Oxford Floral to pick up Lillian Carson’s Wonderful Cheese Straws! These are great for your tailgate in The Grove.
Or Visit Lillian’s Wonderful Cheese Straws facebook page.
I loved the Durham Farmers Market and especially catching sight of the Bulls sign…Could this be the same from the movie Bull Durham?
And speaking of tailgating….gotta go…time for some great games this weekend.
Watch for upcoming stories from my tailgating travels and my visit to the beautiful Duke Gardens.
Come celebrate with me. I’ll save you a seat at the table.

The JL of Durham/Orange Counties is releasing a new regional cookbook soon, should be a good one!
I would love to see this. Let me know when it comes out and I will buy it! Thanks Dave always for your comments.

So good to see you and your cheese straws are the best. Good luck in Tuscaloosa this weekend!
