Ahhhh! Cashiers in the summer!!! The first stop upon arrival, the Cashiers Farmers Market. I bought fresh zucchini, yellow summer squash, okra (my new favorite vegetable this summer), heirloom tomatoes, white silver queen corn, beautiful beef fillets, King salmon, cantaloupe, local blueberries, local blackberries and these spectacular Dahlias.
When I posted this picture on Instagram and Facebook, I had many comments, “they don’t look real”. They are very real….just about perfect. I grew them here in Cashiers for several years and miss their beauty.
These dahlias are grown by Erin Watson and are harvested weekly. It takes 2 days to cut the blooms.
The Cashiers Farmers Market, owned by the Crawford family, has been a must stop shop since 1995.
“Cashiers Farmers Market is a family owned and operated business. A specialty grocery and produce market established in 1995. They offer only the freshest seasonal produce from many local growers.
Fresh baked goods are always a treat. The aroma fills the air when you enter the building. The atmosphere is very collective, with many old signs and memorabilia. Enjoy some homemade ice cream, churned with an antique engine. Check out the menu for great take-out…BBQ & more.
A fun place to shop, whether you’re a regular or just visiting on your way through the beautiful mountains. Cashiers Farmers Market has great food, wine, all natural local beef, seasonal coastal seafood, baked goods, prepared foods and many gourmet items customers are delighted to find. “
Back to dahlias…
The High Hampton Inn has the most spectacular dahlia beds.
Rows of dahlias all staked to keep the blooms and foliage upright.
This arbor is right next to their herb garden in the midst of the dahlias.
During season, fresh dahlias grace every table in the High Hampton Dining Room.
A view of Rock Mountain from the dahlia garden. Think I’ll go hike Rock Mountain!
The mountains in the summer…relief from the heat…beautiful hikes along the many waterfalls…gorgeous views of the Blue Ridge Mountains…colorful summer gardens…
Come celebrate with me. I’ll save you a seat at the table.
