Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. Even in Florida there is a nip in the air…a change of seasons… After a stay in our North Carolina mountain home, we discovered the leaves are late in changing colors…Maybe even 2 weeks late. Seeing all the Halloween and now fall decorations I am looking forward to Thanksgiving…
Early October…just a hint of color beginning to show at Dry Falls in Highlands, NC.
Not so dry afterall…This wonderful waterfall is called Dry Falls because you can walk under the falls and stay dry…well sort of

You’ll always find Dave and me up on a mountain…one of our favorite hikes.
A perfect red truck for fall and tailgating
The leaves turned color earlier in Vermont! This glorious aerial photo was taken in early October of Ron and Janet Kolar’s lovely Camp Winape in northern Vermont.
Ron explains, “The picture shows a fair amount of Seymour Lake, with the summit of Mt Elon, 2100 foot elevation, in the background. There is a ridge extending from Wolf’s Point (and the log cabin of Jim McDonald) up to the top of Elon. About half way up that ridge, we have a nice stand of maple sugar trees on our Mountain Property. The adjacent farmer, Jim Judd, has run his sap lines over to our trees and he processes the sap and produces fine Maple Syrup for us. So this is where the “ Camp Winape” Maple Syrup is produced.” Dave and I hiked with Ron up to the top and actually saw the maple syrup lines…and we have tasted the wonderful Camp Winape maple syrup.
A closer look of Camp Winape…the aerial view really puts the Camp in perspective. Thank you Ron and Janet for sharing these wonderful fall foliage photos! Maple trees do have the best color.
Now back in Florida, we have lots of fall color…mainly in our decorations…
Look at this glorious sky and marsh!
Flowers, pumpkin and My Favorite Flower Book by Lewis Miller…his flower arrangements have inspired many of my paintings…watch for another post on his work and my painting inspiration.
Front porch fun
Won’t be long and this will all be changing to Christmas decorations. Yikes!
Watch for upcoming stories from my tailgating, homegating, Thanksgiving travels. I’ll save you a seat at the table.

Only time I miss the north….change of seasons.
Beautiful pictures.
Thanks Dickie! I know about missing the north and change of seasons. Come January we’ll be happy we’re in Florida!
Just gorgeous and your “ Magic Touch” is amazing.
Thanks Charlie and Rosemary! Enjoying the heirloom pumpkins! I brought several back with me from NC, but also found quite a few at Publix. Bought the gorgeous orange mums from Ace Hardware, Fernandina Beach!
I wish we could have seen the fall colors in NC this year. Your pictures are beautiful! Here we are, already at the holidays! Miss you! xo
They are very late this year! I think you had a little something fun going on during this time…a safari in Africa! Thought of you often and loved your photos. Miss you and we’ll have to plan our mountain time for next year! Yikes! It is close to next year already.
Love you and miss you!
