FLOWER FRIDAY!!!
The first of 2 new 12″x12″ flower paintings! This size is perfect as a gallery grouping on a wall or just sitting on a shelf in your bookcase.
I love the size! It is an original acrylic painting on canvas, 1 1/2 inch gallery wrapped which means it doesn’t have to be framed…
Or add a subtle and sleek look with an antiqued silver leaf picture frame, a canvas floater. Float your fine art canvas, suspending and separating it from the moulding.
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen 2 earlier “in the process” photos of this painting.
Round 1…get the paint on the canvas…very lightly, but cover the entire canvas. I casually sketch and then apply paint. When dry, I coat with a varnish to add depth.
Round 2….Reapply paint to the entire canvas … adding texture and color. Add another coat of varnish for richness and depth.
Round 3…add paint and texture … adjusting colors and line … There may be several layers added over the next few painting sessions.
Sign and finish with a final coat of varnish!
Sometimes when I have something that is bothering me about a painting, I will turn it upside down or look at it (backwards or reversed) in a mirror I have on the wall…Funny how the mind works…if something is off it will stand out when put in these situations.
I tried something new with this one…I photographed it in black and white. It forces you to look at the lights and the darks! (Thank you Steve Leimberg @ UnseenImages.com for making me think to try this approach).
Available for sale here in art gallery … friends and family discount will apply for Art of Living Subscribers.
Next Flower Friday, the second in the series!
Come celebrate with me. I’ll save you a seat at the table or easel.

Thanks Dickie! I love color. Need a little in our lives!
What bubbly joy your image brings – even in black & white!
Thank you Jo-Ann! Think the black and white helps! Maybe I should actually try painting one in black and white.
