I painted the old Fowler Farm house amongst the newly planted Christmas trees. Our Christmas card is the image of this painting! Merry Christmas from our favorIte Christmas tree farm in Cashiers, NC. After cutting and transporting a tree to Florida for many years our hope is for these newly planted trees to bring pleasure to many! I can’t tell you how many cars we pass on the interstate with a tree on the roof of their cars…taking them home to Florida!
Last year as we cut a huge Christmas tree, I looked over a new field with baby trees! The Fowler’s Christmas Tree Farm is a special place during the Christmas season.
On the 6th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

“A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”

“Behind us, the sun was setting in a simultaneous congruent withdrawal and the river turned to flame in a quiet duel of gold….The new gold of moon astonishing and ascendant, he depleted gold of sunset extinguishing itself in the long westward slide, it was the old dance of days in the Carolina marshes, the breathtaking death of days before the eyes of children, until the sun vanished, its final signature a ribbon of bullion strung across the tops of water oaks.”
― The Prince of Tides
This watercolor was mixed with white gouache (pronounced gwash). I love mixing white gouache with any color in watercolors to give a feeling of opacity. Also you can cover your mistakes!

“I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.”
Isaac Newton

I’ve discovered the joy of painting on museum quality gesso panel in smaller sizes which allows vibrant colors to shine and can make original works of art more affordable.
I still have lots of paintings on canvas available too!
