Gooey Butter Cake
Serving Size:
Crust
- 1 (18 1/4 ounce) yellow butter cake mix (Duncan Hines)
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, melted
- 1 egg
Filling
- 2 eggs
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, melted
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 (16 ounce) box powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Crust
- Blend 1 box of yellow cake mix, 1 stick of melted butter and 1 egg and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9 inch baking pan.
Filling
- In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the remaining 2 eggs, vanilla, and butter. Beat together.
- Add the powdered sugar and mix well. Spread over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey.

Alternate Gooey Butter Cake
Ingredients
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 3 large eggs (2 beaten)
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Combine cake mix, 1 egg and melted butter.
- Press into a greased 9×13 inch pan with your fingers.
- Blend together cream cheese, 2 beaten eggs and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Spread over the first batter.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until edges are brown.
- Dust with powdered sugar on top after the cake has cooled. Cut into bite-sized pieces for easy snacking.
